Day one begins with a hike up to the stunning Oeschinensee—a turquoise mountain lake framed by towering cliffs and hanging glaciers. After a scenic break along its shores, the trail climbs steadily toward the high alpine. With each step, the landscape becomes more dramatic as we ascend toward the remote Blüemlisalphütte, perched at 2,840 meters, surrounded by ice and stone.

We’ll spend the night in this legendary hut, with the stars above and the mighty Blüemlisalp massif all around. Day two offers a majestic descent back toward the valley—or, for the adventurous, the option to cross high passes deeper into the alpine world.

This three-day high-alpine trek connects two of the Bernese Oberland’s most iconic regions—starting in peaceful Kandersteg and finishing in the lush valley of Lenk. Along the way, we traverse remote plateaus, dramatic cliffs, and the wild, wind-swept Ammertenpass.

Day one takes us through flower-filled meadows and up into the wide-open landscapes of Engstligenalp, where waterfalls tumble from the cliffs and marmots whistle across the high pastures. We spend the night in a rustic mountain hut, surrounded by silence and stars.

On day two, we tackle the rugged and scenic Ammertenpass—a dramatic crossing between towering peaks, with sweeping views into two valleys. From here, the trail winds down toward Lenk, passing alpine streams and grazing cows, before ending in this charming mountain village.

This is a rewarding route for hikers with solid mountain experience, offering solitude, beauty, and the deep satisfaction of crossing the Alps on foot.
